MG have just announced the pricing for their highly anticipates MG3 supermini and where previously we were led to believe it will start at ?9,995 it will actually finish at this price with the entry model MG3 “3Time” starting at just ?8,399 when it goes on sale here in September this year. Specifications are looking good too for example the MG3 “3Time” comes with LED running lights, sports seats, CD player with USB connectivity, six air-bags, traction control with brake control, hill-hold function for hill starts and even a brake disc wiping function which removes moisture from the surface of the rotors after passing through water.
Next in the range is the MG3 “3Form” at ?9,299 with the MG “3Form Sport” following at ?9,549. The 3Form benefits from Bluetooth with audio streaming, Air conditioning and a DAB Hi-Fi. Over and above this the 3Form Sport adds 16″ Alloy wheels, Side skirts and a Rear spoiler.
The flag ship of the range is the MG 3Style at ?9,999 which specification adds Cruise control, a different design of alloy wheels and automatic lights and wipers.
The car will be available in 10 different body colours a selection of interiors along with a big range of exterior graphics and mirror colours allowing customers to customise their car like many of the other manufacturers are now offering.
All models will be powered by a 1.5 litre 106bhp engine combined with a 5-speed gearbox giving the car a 0-62 time of around 11 seconds and mpg of 48.7 with 136g/km CO2 which could do with improving as this puts the MG3 in the ?125 road fund licence bracket per year. One of the biggest selling points though, especially for young drivers who will want to engine the sportiness of the 106bhp engine and sports chassis is that the predicted insurance group rating is just 4E which is less than half the rating of similar competitors.
