The compact crossover market will soon be getting a new addition, with Suzuki’s new compact SUV concept, the iV-4 having made it’s worldwide debut at this years 65th Frankfurt Motor Show. Some sneak peak photo’s were revealed earlier in July this year but this is the first official physical unveiling to the public.
The new iV-4 is Suzuki’s latest edition to their SUV line-up, with their first SUV – the? LJ model range being launched way back in 1970. Suzuki then followed this up with the Suzuki Vitara in the 80’s, the Jimny in the 90’s and finally the Grand Vitara back in 2005. As a five door SUV designed?to tackle the the likes of the Nissan Juke and the new Renault Captur, Suzuki has characterised the iV-4 as the “SUV for the present day”, “a personal compact SUV” and hopes it to stand out from the competition with its tough and rugged styling and its compact dimensions.
The car will boast Suzuki’s “ALLGRIP” four wheel drive system that is already being used on the SX4 S-Cross model, will have a length of 4215mm, be 1850mm wide and will offer lots of exterior personalisation similar to that of the Renault Captur.
The new iV-4 final production model is due for market release in 2015 and is one of three news Suzuki’s we can expect to see hitting our showrooms over the next three years with replacements for the Alto and splash due to be launched as early as next year and a replacement for the popular Suzuki Swift to appear in 2016.
