Renault have always been one of the few companies that gives us a sneak peak of their new concept cars that when finally do go into production do actually look pretty much the same as the concept version.
Lets hope the Renault Captur concept keeps with the trend… check it out below –
Renault has published the first image of its new crossover 4?4 for 2013. Called the ?Captur?, the car will be revealed on 11th January ahead of its public unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
This is particularly apt as the Captur nametag was originally given to Renault?s crossover concept first shown at Geneva back in 2011.
The car ? shown in what looks to be near production-ready guise in this teaser image ? inherits the new Renault family ?face? from the fourth-generation Clio.
That means a bold but stretched radiator grille and wrap-around style front headlight units. It is expected that the car will also feature many other design cues from the French firm?s latest hatchback.
Underpinned by the same chassis as the Clio, the Captur will boast similar proportions, albeit with a raised ride height ? expect a slightly larger boot and more practicality for the manufacturer?s compact SUV, too.
Renault?s crossover is likely to inherit the Clio?s engine range, including the French firm?s new 0.9-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit and 1.5-litre turbodiesel, both producing 90hp.
A 111hp 1.6 petrol and 110hp turbodiesel from the larger Megane could also be offered.
The car will go up against the recently revealed Peugeot 2008 crossover ? based on the firm?s 208 hatchback ? as well as the Nissan Juke and Vauxhall Mokka.
With Peugeot confirming its three-cylinder petrol 2008 will emit just 99g/km CO2, expect the Captur to be similarly efficient.
Renault is yet to confirm any performance or economy figures for the crossover however, but expect more information ? as well as an on sale date ? when the car is revealed fully at the end of the week.
